Term 2 Te Reo Māori Focus - Pepehā

Kia ora Marshland whānau,

This term all tamariki will be learning, building on, and practising their pepehā.

A pepehā is a way of introducing ourselves in te reo Māori. To introduce ourselves we should tell the story of how we arrived here, and the story does not start with ourselves!!!

Here is an example of Jacqui, Riki, Taryn and I giving our pepehā - https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1cWNmoB_ltYAnQFuawsgMBl8Ok6vBlYoVI5pi6c0iyK8/edit?usp=sharing

Please encourage your tamariki to recite their pepehā to you.

WHANAU HUI FOR PARENTS OF MAORI STUDENTS – Wednesday 22nd March: We would like to invite you to a Whānau Hui for parents of Māori students at Marshland School. This will be held in the Staff Room on Wednesday 22nd March, 2017. We will start with a karakia/blessing at 5:30pm and our hui will finish at 6:30pm. We are thrilled about our inclusion into Huakina Mai (A two-year relational based intervention that provides a strengths-based approach to supporting Māori students in schools). We know that Māori students learn best when they have strong learning relationships with their teachers, and when teachers and whānau work together to support their tamariki. Darlene Te Karu, Senior Facilitator at Kaha Education would like to speak with you to give an overview of the Huakina Mai programme and what it entails.  This is a great opportunity for you to come along, meet other whānau and teachers and hear all about Huakina Mai.  If you would like to come along could you please RSVP to the office by Mo…
